His multifaceted career as a university professor, intelligence officer, civil servant, explorer, scientist, aerospace engineer, Colonel of Marines and later, per the Geneva Convention, a general in the United States Army, has carried Dr. Roscoe through three wars and to the arctic, antarctic and all the oceans and continents in between.
During his earlier explorations he was geographic, air reconnaissance and photogrammetric officer to Admiral Byrd on two antarctic expeditions and served as Byrd's scientific advisor until shortly before his death, during which period he discovered by air recon and airphoto analyses many glaciers, mountain peaks and other features including a major coastline buried hundreds of feet below the ice; over the intervening years the United States has named a large glacier and peninsula after him which other nations have adopted.
As an aerospace engineer he managed the design, development and testing the 1000-lb. sensor systems for the first spy-in-the-sky satellites; he also managed the design and development of space power systems, remotely controlled reconnaissance and targeting aircraft and worked on methods of reducing collateral damage from nuclear weapons.
In chivalric orders he is a Grand Officer in both USA and NATO Grand Priories of the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, a Knight Commander with Star in the Order of Polonia Restituta and in the Order of Saint Stanislas, and a Knight Commander of the Order of Saint John. Currently he is writing a book on the history of the Knights Templar past and present.
